Mack Lovin’ it

Ross Macklin, SFC’s new addition to their coaching staff, hit the ground running last night.

The Beauty Queens started strongly and were denied a 1-0 lead after Liam Shotton’s 5th minute penalty was well saved by the German keeper. Eventually however, the pressure from Singapore Football Club paid off. Dead ball specialist, Matt Hulen, showing he still has the X factor as he scored directly from a corner. 1-0 to SFC at half time.

The second half continued to see a lot of possession and control for SFC. Tim Walter and Simon Lloyd both showing their quality on the ball, but ultimately SFC failed to press home their advantage.

Finally the game’s second goal arrived. In the 70th minute the photosensitive Swiss intercepted an errant pass on the halfway line, and linked up with Shotton for a quick counterattack. The German keeper again denied the Englishman, but Walter was able to follow up on the rebound. SFC 2-0.

The final goal was sadly a blot on, what had otherwise been, a great outing for the German No.1. Rushing off his line, with the enthusiasm of a Labrador puppy, he missed his kick entirely, leaving Mike Hemmingway the simplest of opportunities to pass the ball into an empty net.

Final score SFC 3 GAS 0

Man of the Match: Tim Walter
