Duric and McCole strike instant partnership for SFC
SFC ran out eventual 3-1 winners on Saturday, playing their last pre season friendly against a strong TeamCuzz FC.
Kicking off at UWC’s Ayer Rajah Field, the SFC “Beauty Queens” started sluggishly in baking hot conditions. Meanwhile a sprightly and talented TeamCuzz, on the other hand, were clearly less effected by the heat. The visitors were first to score after 20 minutes. 1-0 to TeamCuzz.
SFC finally started to find some composure at the half an hour mark. Simon Lloyd, making his first start for SFC, helped shore up the defence whilst Rob Benson, continuing his excellent start to life in a red sash, showed plenty of willing down the right flank. After some sustained pressure, towards the end of the first half, Scottish stalwart Andrew Hutcheon levelled with conviction from the spot. 1-1 at the break
The second half saw a sea of changes from SFC coach Adam Bowden; as has been the case throughout pre season for this new look squad. His changes quickly brought about some exciting developments at the business end of the pitch; Matt McCole instantly striking up and understanding with Aleksandar Duric upfront. McCole, making his debut for SFC finished, with aplomb at the first time of asking and in turn giving SFC a 2-1 lead. As the game continued the evergreen Duric continued to pull the strings, before adding a third goal.
Strong second half performances from Saatwik Kaul and Danny Sheen meant that TeamCuzz never really threatened again after that. SFC running out eventual 3-1 winners.
A big thank you to TeamCuzz for a very competitive, but enjoyable friendly that was played in a great spirit throughout. SFC wish them all the best in their coming season.
