Karim Hussin

Academy Director

Coach Karim joined SFC from Singapore Premier League club, Lion City Sailors, where he was responsible for the club’s Youth team there.He had previously held the position of Home United’s Youth team coach, since 2015.

Karim also has coaching experience from two other Singaporean professional clubs. At Warriors FC he oversaw the development of the club’s women’s team, and at Tanjong Pagar he was responsible for the “Young Jaguars”.

Karim holds an AFC ‘A’ Coaching Certificate and has also completed FIFA Grassroots Coaching, FIFA Fitness Coaching and FIFA Elite Youth Coaching courses. In addition, to working with Singapore Football Club, Karim is also involved assisting with the Singapore U17 national team.

Fazrul

Senior Coach

A former international, Coach Fazrul won an impressive total of 87 senior caps for Singapore, and was an integral member of both Singapore’s AFF Championship winning teams, in 2007 and 2012. Prior to that Fazrul was also part of Singapore’s 2007 SEA Games bronze winning team.

Fazrul had an illustrious S-League career beginning at Geylang United, before playing for Young Lions, Gombak United, Lions XII, Warriors, Tampines Rovers as well as Hougang United.

During a professional career that saw him amass over 140 club goals, Fazrul was also the highest scoring Singaporean player in the S-League on 4 separate occasions. This included an impressive return of 25 goals in 58 games for SAFFC.

His time at Lions XII saw the team lift the Liga Super (Malaysian Super League) in 2013. His domestic form at Home United (10 goals in 24 games) also led to further time playing abroad, with Sabah FC, in the Malaysian Premier League..

Coach Fazrul primarily oversees SFC’s U16 team working alongside SFC’s Head of Youth Development,  Coach Karim, as they both reinforce SFC’s “Pathways & Opportunities” programme. In addition to being a Senior Coach for Singapore Football Club, Fazrul also plays for the club’s men’s first team.

Zulfadli Zainal

Senior Coach

Before joining SFC Coach Zul played football professionally for 10 years. During that time he represented Singapore at international level, and also played in the AFC Champions League at club level.

Domestically Zul played for a number of Singapore’s top S-League teams; including Young Lions, Tampines Rovers, Home United as well as Warriors where he was Captain.

Zul’s playing honors include being voted Singapore Armed Forces Football Club (SAFFC) young player of the year in 2009; the same year he also won his first S-league title. Zul went on to lift the Singapore Cup in 2012, before securing another S-League title in 2014 with Warriors.

As a coach, Zul was previously with Cosmo United Football Academy (CUFA) where he was responsible for a number of youth teams and also helped develop the academy’s girls teams’ programme. In addition to his time at CUFA, Coach Zul also spent time at Singapore’s prestigious Saint Joseph International School (SJI) as one of their senior football coaches.

Zul holds an AFC “C” Coaching Certificate, an FAS Grassroots Coaching certificate, an FAS Introductory Coaching certification and is also a qualified First Aider.

In addition, to working with Singapore Football Club, Coach Zul also plays for the club’s adult first team.

Shahril Ishak

Senior Coach

Shahril was captain of Singapore’s national team for 8 years, winning 143 caps for Singapore and scoring 46 international goals.

In 2012 he led his country to it’s fourth AFF Championship title and in the process won the tournament for a third time himself.

Domestically Shahril has played 205 times for Young Lions, and won almost 100 caps for Home United before playing abroad in Malayasia. Shahril represented Persib Bandung and then joined Medan Chiefs before returning to Singapore and playing for Lions XII. 

In 2013 Shahril helped Lions XII with the Malaysian Super League finishing the season as the club’s highest scorer with 17 goals in 34 appearances.

Following this success Shahril moved to JDT II, one of Asia’s biggest clubs, and was appointed captain in 2015. In 2017 he was signed by Warriors in Singapore where he enjoyed a successful stint scoring 16 goals in 27 appearances.

In 2022 in his final season as a professional he added to his trophy cabinet by winning the Singapore Cup with Hougang United.
